![]() ![]() I have also included some of my sketchbook pages from my thought process, as I feel this is a crucial part of any book cover illustrator. I didn’t want to be too literal with my illustration so I produced a lot of brainstorms and thumbnails (shown below). It’s a type of story that a book cover illustrator loves! Boo is symbolised by the oak tree within the middle of the cover, as Boo leaves presents for Scout and Jem when they walk home for school, he is their protector, without them even knowing. He ultimately saves Scout and Jem at the end of the book, which also happens beneath a tree. ![]() ![]() He stays inside his house as he doesn’t want to see the corruption in the world, and looks over Atticus’s children, Scout and Jem. In the middle of all of this commotion is the character, Boo Radley. After reading over parts again I decided to look at how the book deals with good vs evil, black vs white, and Atticus vs the Ewell family. The story is engaging and describes it’s characters excellent, so I decided to make a cover for it. I love the way the book is written and is one of my favourite books to read, and a great films also! Being a book cover illustrator, I love producing illustrations for this sort of project, it’s very rewarding and lets me be creative. I just produced this book cover of the famous novel by Harper Lee, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. My week has been packed full of new commissions, meeting with clients, and book cover projects (because every illustrator is a book cover illustrator at heart). ![]() Hello hello! I hope you’re having a great week so far. ![]()
